From spooky Halloween experiences to high octane car races, it’s a busy autumn in Central Florida

 September 9, 2022 – (Sebring, FL) – With kids back in school and Thanksgiving on the horizon, it’s time to enjoy all that fall has to offer in Central Florida’s Sebring Area. Located just a two-hour drive from Orlando, Tampa and South Florida, this Central Florida destination is an excellent choice if you’re looking for a small-town escape with lots of activities for families and adults alike.

September 23-25: GT World Challenge America (SRO)

The penultimate round of the hotly contested Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS makes its annual trip to Sebring Raceway. The all-GT series is part of the global Fanatec GT World Challenge, competing in Europe, Asia, and Australia. This Fall, your favorite sports cars from brands like Acura, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-AMG, and Porsche will battle the bumps in Central Florida. Weekend activities include a grid walk, autograph sessions, parade laps and more.

 Every Friday and Saturday night in October, starting October 1 – Terror Trail

Looking for some scary thrills for a good cause? Then the Terror Trail is waiting for you! This haunted nighttime adventure will bring the screams as you make your way through a series of mazes and scare zones in the dark, Florida woods. Zombie rats, cursed corpses and toxic clowns are just some of the terrors that await. Tickets are $16/person and proceeds benefit the Highlands County Humane Society.

 October 8: Oktoberfest at Secret Gardens Winery 2-6PM

While some experience fall with pumpkin spice, at Secret Gardens Winery it’s all about German style Oktoberfest, featuring authentic German cuisine, Hefeweizen Beer & wine. Featuring live dance music and wear your best lederhosen and dirndl Oktoberfest outfits to win a prize.

 October 15: Heartland Fire Fest & 5K Remembrance Run

Celebrate Fire Prevention Month and meet your local heroes! This action-packed day begins with a morning 5K race through downtown Sebring, ending back at Firemen’s Field with tons of fun for the entire family, including vendors, bounce houses, music, a beer tent, and much more. Firematics competitions begin at 10am, with firefighters showing off their skills! There will also be a Touch A Truck area for kids to explore different public safety vehicles and learn about the equipment first responders use every day to keep the community safe.  Admission is free.

 October 15: Music in the Park at Highlands Hammock State Park

Bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy music under the stars.  The new Music in the Park concert series will open with one-man blues band Ben Prestage taking the outdoor stage on at 7pm. Food trucks will be on site and the Hammock Inn Camp Store is open for souvenirs, ice cream and more.

 October 15: Among the Lemon Trees

The latest show from Spanish born duo pianists Elena Martín and José Melitón . Hailed by critics and audiences alike as one of the most compelling talents of their generation, their touring has taken them around the world, performing at festivals, concert series, master classes, or workshops. This is a free performance. Reserve your tickets for the show online.

October 15: Pink on Parade 5K

AdventHealth Sebring Foundation’s pink-inspired 5K & 1 mile walk allows participant to complete their distance together or virtually, to rally against breast cancer. This year’s Pink on Parade event will be hosted both in person as well as a virtual option; the virtual event can be completed in your neighborhood, a park, or on a treadmill (to name a few). All proceeds benefit the AdventHealth Breast Care Center.

October 22: Mason G. Smoak Foundation Trail Race & Family Fun Day

Lightsey Family Ranch in Venus, FL hosts the annual trail race and fun day complete with family activities and games, BBQ and Swamp Buggy Tours.

October 22-23: GFNY Marathon & Cycling

Be part of a mega GFNY Sebring race weekend with the marathon and half marathon on Saturday, October 22 and a cycling marathon on Sunday, October 23. GFNY is a personal endurance challenge where you compete against others, the clock and yourself.

October 28: 6th Annual Halloween on the Circle in Downtown Sebring

Safe trick or treating for kids with first responders in attendance passing out candy, along with downtown Sebring businesses, and other local businesses from the community. There are games, decorations, food, and more from 5-8 pm!

November 6: SPOOKTACULAR!

Spooks, specters, and scaredy-cats contort and cavort through a high-flying circus of scare. Vampires soar, skeletons stagger, and acrobatic cats romp through a humorously haunted bazaar of the bizarre. Indulge your inner eerie in Spooktaculara family-friendly, bone-chilling delight!

November 8-10: Visit Sebring Classic Golf Tournament

The Minor League Golf Tour was founded to let amateur golfers live out their dreams of being professional. This golf tour is returning to the Sebring area with the Visit Sebring Classic with different events suited for every golfer’s style. Hosted at the Sun ‘n Lake Golf Club on the Par 72 Deer Run Course, professionals and amateurs with a USGA handicap of six or less can participate. This event is free to attend as a spectator.

November 9-12: 26th Annual Florida Flywheelers’ Fall Fuel Up

The 25th Annual Fall Fuel Up family event will feature antique tractors and cars, hit and miss engines, food stalls, a huge flea market, antique car and tractor parades and an antique village. The Florida Flywheelers Antique Engine Club promotes interest in restoring, preserving and exhibiting antique internal combustion engines, steam engines, antique tractors and autos and other labor-saving devices from the by-gone years.

November 24: 30th Annual Turkey Trot 5K at Highlands Hammock State Park

Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2022, this annual Thanksgiving morning race through Highlands Hammock State Park is a longstanding tradition in Sebring.

 November. 30-December. 2: Citrus Golf Trail Open

Someone will win $25,000 plus the right to wear the prestigious Orange Jacket at the Citrus Golf Trail (CGT). Known as the “Value Golf Capital of the World,” Sebring’s 2nd Annual CGT Open offers professional and amateur players with a USGA handicap of 6 or less a 3-day, 54-hole tournament with the Minor League Golf Tour at Sun ‘n Lake Golf Club.The CGT Open is headlined by a fourball competition features three different divisions – men’s, women’s and mixed, with an individual competition available to juniors and collegiate players.

November 30 – December 4 – HSR Pistons & Props

The historic sportscar racing classic Sebring 12 Hour, HSR Pistons and Props, is back to its full high-flying glory as an array of rare and vintage military airplanes join an iconic line-up of historic race cars for the seventh running of the event at Sebring International Raceway. HSR race weekend is a celebration of Sebring’s illustrious auto racing history and aviation heritage, including a vintage aircraft fly-in.
