Highlands Hammock State Park’s Annual Civilian Conservation Corps Festival

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Highlands Hammock State Park and the Friends of Highlands Hammock welcome the community to join us for the 27th Annual Civilian Conservation Corps Festival at Highlands Hammock State Park on Saturday, November 3rd from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“We will have antique cars and tractors, arts & crafts vendors, live entertainment by Weatherbee’s Magic & Comedy, Sebring Model Railroad’s expansive model train exhibit and new this year is wildlife from Gatorland of Orlando,” says Dorothy Harris, Park Services Specialist. Tram tours and hayrides will be available for just $1 and Florida Forest Service’s Smokey Bear as well as Highlands County Fire Services’ Sparky the Fire Pup will be greeting visitors throughout the day. Promise Acres Equine Rescue will have pony rides for $3.00 and a bounce house will be available too!

The 2nd Annual Hike & Seek Geocaching Event will also take place with 100 new geocaches! The festivities begin at 9AM at N 27° 28.600 W 081° 31.700 (park’s Rec Hall). Type GC3W3QG into any search engine and be taken to geocaching event page! Activities and contests, as well as geocaching activities throughout the Highlands County area will continue all weekend.

Park admission fees are just $6.00 per vehicle (up to eight people per carload) and there’s plenty to enjoy for the whole family. Plan on great festival foods like BBQ sandwiches, gator tail, hand-cut fries, burgers, hot dogs, brauts & kielbasa, cotton candy, popcorn and more!
